What's included
Initial assessment – Measure existing space (or empty space for new stairs). Check headroom, tread depth, riser height, landing requirements.
Design consultation – Style: straight, L-shaped (quarter-turn), U-shaped (half-turn), spiral, curved, or floating. Material: wood, steel, aluminum, glass, cable rail, or combination.
Engineering (if needed) – Load calculations, stringer sizing, handrail height, baluster spacing. We provide stamped drawings for permits.
Permits – We handle all city paperwork (required for new stairs or modifications).
Demolition (if replacing) – Remove old stairs. Haul away debris. Keep existing stringers if reusable (saves money).
Framing & structure
Stringers – Cut from 2x12 lumber (wood stairs) or steel channel (metal stairs)
Supports – Posts, columns, or wall-mounted brackets
Landings – Framed and braced at turns or between flights
Treads – Solid wood, metal grate, stone, or composite
Risers – Wood, metal, or open (floating style)
Materials (your choice)
Wood – Oak, maple, walnut, cherry, hickory, pine, or reclaimed barn wood
Metal – Steel (painted or powder-coated), aluminum, stainless steel, wrought iron
Glass – Tempered glass panels (with or without handrail)
Stone – Granite, marble, or limestone treads
Composite – Trex or similar (for outdoor stairs)
Railings & balusters
Handrails – Wood, metal, or cable (continuous on both sides if required)
Balusters – Wood (square or turned), metal (rod or picket), cable (stainless), or glass
Wall handrail – For stairs against wall (one side only)
Code spacing – Balusters no more than 4" apart (child safe)
Tread finish
Wood – Sanded, stained, sealed (polyurethane) – three coats
Metal – Primer + two coats paint or powder-coat
Stone – Polished or honed (sealed)
Lighting (optional) – LED strip under each tread, stair riser lights, or step lights in wall.
Landing & transition – Flooring matching at top and bottom (transition strip included).
Cleanup – Dust collection during sanding. Remove all debris. Vacuum area.
Final inspection – Check each tread for squeaks, each baluster for wobble, handrail for firm grip. Load test if required by engineer.

Fixed quote within 48 hours – Materials, fabrication, install, finish, cleanup.
Permits – We handle all city paperwork.
Fabrication – Wood cut and sanded in our shop. Steel welded off-site.
Installation – 2–5 days depending on complexity.
Finish & sealing – Stain + polyurethane for wood. Touch-up paint for metal.
Final walkthrough – You climb every step. Test handrail. Check for squeaks.
5-year warranty – On all materials and labor.
